Biography

Gabriel Santos is a Brazilian pianist celebrated for his introspective artistry and deep connection to the piano. His musical journey began at the age of six, when a spontaneous encounter with the instrument sparked a self-taught exploration. What began as curiosity quickly evolved into a lifelong passion, leading him to formal lessons as he sought to immerse himself in the complexities of classical music.

Gabriel currently studies under the guidance of esteemed Brazilian pianist Karin Fernandes, whose mentorship has played a pivotal role in shaping his technical refinement and artistic depth. He is also a member of Duo Cantabile, a chamber music project that reflects his interest in musical dialogue and collaboration.

His development as a musician has been enriched by participation in prestigious masterclasses with renowned pianists such as Dora Deliyska, Aristo Sham, Keith Jarrett, Yangyang Ruan, and Anton Mejias. He has also studied with acclaimed professors Fábio Martino and Érika Ribeiro, and took part in the Oficina de Música de Curitiba, one of Brazil’s most respected music festivals.

In July 2025, Gabriel will further expand his artistic horizons by participating in the Pianale International Piano Academy & Competition in Fulda, Germany.

Gabriel approaches music as a profound emotional and intellectual journey. For him, each piece transcends mere notes; it is a living dialogue between composer, performer, and listener. His performances are marked by thoughtful interpretation, quiet intensity, and a meticulous attention to detail, all shaped by his reflective personality and analytical mindset.

Although reserved by nature, Gabriel reveals remarkable expressiveness at the piano. His goal is not to showcase technical prowess, but to communicate the inexpressible—to offer audiences a glimpse into the emotional and psychological landscapes that inspire his interpretations.

With a keen sensitivity to the world around him, Gabriel views music as a form of communication beyond words—a means of exploring and expressing the deepest facets of human emotion and experience, with the piano as his voice.
